atnewe-atnewe (at-no-uh-at-no-uh) is a Central/Eastern Arrernte word meaning to relax and take your time.

Weaving is a wonderfully meditative activity - once the basics are picked up by participants, workshops become a space to facilitate dialogue, connection and cultural learnings. We offer a range of different workshops for different needs across Naarm, wider Victoria and sometimes interstate.

For shorter workshops or events at conferences and festivals we’re able to bring starter coils — the beginnings of the basket — to allow people to dive right into the practice, and walk away with a finished product and basic understanding of how to weave a basket.

For longer workshops or workshop series, we teach people to weave a basket from the very beginning, including the option to learn how to harvest, dry and prepare the plants for weaving. Participants walk away with a large basket or bag, or several products over the workshop series.
